January Insurance To-Do’s?
Please Note! Due to the high volume of irritating spam and slow-down of participation here, we are no longer accepting new comments, questions, or subjects on this Forum. We are keeping all the subjects and comments for review as there is a lot of good stuff here relating to practice-building subjects. So, dig deep! Thanks to everyone who participated here but it is time to move on to bigger projects educating the public about acupuncture! Matt Bauer

ILoveAcupuncturePosts: 35 | Hi Matt, This was my first year billing insurance so a quick question as we come up on the new year. In January, do I need to contact my current patients’ insurance company to re-verify benefits, deductibles, percent covered, etc? Thanks! |

Matthew BauerPosts: 211 | Short answer – yes. It is best to confirm benefits at the first of the years as most health plans start anew Jan 1 (some do this July 1). But this years we also have the biggest set of changes to insurance to come along since Medicare with the ACA going into effect Jan 1 so all the more reason to verify everything. I will be writing a post on the ramifications of the ACA as soon as I feel I have a better understanding of just how things will likely go so please stay tuned. Matthew Bauer |
